Buying & selling on The Boat Shop

How do I sell a boat on The Boat Shop?+

Create an account, click “Post a listing”, add your boat’s details and photos, choose a listing package and pay the one-off flat fee. Your listing then goes live and buyers can enquire directly. There is no commission, so you keep 100% of your sale price.

How much does it cost to list a boat?+

Listings are a simple one-off flat fee that depends on the package and duration you choose — there is no sale commission. Marine equipment listings cost less than boats. You can see current prices on the “Post a listing” page.

Do you take commission on the sale?+

No. Unlike a traditional broker, The Boat Shop charges a flat listing fee only. Whatever your boat sells for is yours — we do not take a percentage of the sale.

How do buyers contact me?+

Buyers send an enquiry through your listing. You receive an email alert, then read and reply to the message from your account on The Boat Shop. Your contact details are not shown publicly, which helps cut down on spam.

Is it safe to buy and sell here?+

We keep seller contact details private and route enquiries through the site. As with any private sale, meet in a safe public place, never release a boat before payment has fully cleared, and use a written Bill of Sale. Our free sale agreement template is there to help.

What can I sell on The Boat Shop?+

Commercial and leisure boats — fishing boats, trawlers, workboats, yachts, motorboats, RIBs and more — plus marine equipment and gear such as engines, electronics, trailers and chandlery.

Which areas do you cover?+

The Boat Shop is a UK marketplace, with listings and buyers across the country.

How long does my listing stay live?+

Listings run for the duration of the package you choose (for example 30, 60 or 90 days). You can edit or remove your listing at any time from your account, and re-list if you need more time.
